The TEMPO beamline at SOLEIL Synchrotron has reached a major milestone with the successful commissioning of the world’s only facility dedicated to near-ambient-pressure angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (NAP-ARPES).

Researchers from Université Paris Cité, the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Institut Pasteur, and MD Anderson Cancer Center (Texas, USA) report that mutations in the CREBBP gene, frequently observed in many cancers, do not all have the same impact on enzyme function. Structural data collected at SOLEIL from the PROXIMA-1 and PROXIMA-2 beamlines were instrumental in explaining these differences.

NA-CDQuant is a novel deconvolution algorithm which transforms Circular Dichroism CD spectroscopy from a qualitative to a quantitative method for nucleic acid analysis. Building on the NACDDB nucleic acid CD/SRCD database, NA-CDQuant defines 18 reference spectra to distinguish overlapping spectral features and identify DNA and RNA conformations in solution.

Malaria parasites must first infect the liver before they can cause disease. Scientists from the Laboratory of Medical Biochemistry (University of Antwerp) and the Centre d’immunologie et des maladies infectieuses (Sorbonne Université, Inserm, CNRS) combined structural modelling, electron microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering at the SOLEIL beamline and antibody neutralization assays to investigate two key Plasmodium sporozoite proteins, P36 and P52.

Chirality is one of the most studied physical properties in science with two otherwise chemically identical molecules significantly impacting its behaviour in many chemical and biological systems. Since the discovery, at the end of the XIXth century, that solutions of chiral molecules absorb left and right circularly polarised light differently, Natural Circular Dichroism (NCD) has been one of the most powerful tools for investigating this fascinating physical property.

Every autumn, SOLEIL exceptionally opens the doors of its particle accelerators, usually closed to the public, to let visitors discover what happens behind the scenes of the synchrotron’s o

On Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4, SOLEIL will once again be taking part in the annual Fête de la Science (Science Festival), offering the public the chance to discover SOLEIL and science through fun workshops!

How do nanoparticles organize as a liquid droplet dries? A new study uncovers the key role of surfactants in directing the formation of ordered plasmonic materials.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are widespread in space, yet their observed abundance cannot be explained by known chemical growth mechanisms.

Using the DESIRS beamline at Synchrotron SOLEIL, researchers from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and National Dong Hwa University, in collaboration of the DESIRS-SAPHIRS team, have identified a new pathway that could allow these carbon-rich molecules to grow much more rapidly.
