On Monday November 3rd, the first beam entered the optical hutch of the PUMA* beamline. Project developed between SOLEIL and the joint unit CNRS/ministry of Culture IPANEMA, the line aims at studying the morphology, composition, structure and the properties of ancient materials. It is one of the two beamline at SOLEIL exploiting photons from a wiggler. The observation of the first photons on the line, with a current in the storage ring of 5mA, represents the first step before being able to welcome users in 2017.
