International workshop on the management of accelerators at SOLEIL

From 15^th to 19^th September, SOLEIL and the International Agency for Atomic Energy* (IAEA) were organizing a reflexion week on the management of accelerators.

First meeting of this kind in the world, this workshop aimed at putting together accelerator specialists (CERN, SOLEIL, ALBA, DESY…) and some representatives of countries interested in developing or improving such sources (South Africa, Australia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Jordan, Poland, Turkey…). The meeting actually perfectly fits with the major scientific attention to which accelerators have been subjected for several years, in fundamental research as well as in applied one.

In the end, 49 participants were divided in working groups. They will contribute to the writing of a report, kind of a guide of the management of accelerators.

*The IAEA is an international organism under the umbrella of the United Nations and gather 139 member states. It deals with all the questions related to nuclear energy.
