Best PhD Thesis award given to Francesco Paparoni by the PhysChem Journal
The prize recognizes young scholars who are judged to have defended the most outstanding PhD thesis in the field of physical chemistry in 2025. The award winner is selected by a scientific committee appointed by the Journal of Physchem.
The awarded thesis was carried out in collaboration between the University of Camerino (IT) and the SAMBA beamline (SOLEIL) and concerns the synthesis and operando characterization of different TMO-based catalysts (TMO: Transition Metal Oxide) during water-splitting reactions. The thesis also describes the experimental setup developed to perform operando investigations using Raman and X-ray absorption spectroscopies.
Francesco is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the SAMBA beamline, where he continues his research on operando characterizations of electrochemical systems, while also participating in supporting external users as a local contact.
