From March 16 to 20, 2026, 24 young scientists from around the world are being welcomed at Synchrotron SOLEIL for an intensive training week as part of the HERCULES European School (Higher European Research Course for Users of Large Experimental Systems).

At SOLEIL, initial experiments, notably in the case of industrial experiments, have resumed in compliance with the current regulations for the safety of all.

After the restart of the accelerators and the implementation of a specific organization, in particular around the Control Room, the beamlines restarted on Tuesday, May 26.

Characterization of the equilibrium between acetic acid and its dimer

The Gibbs free energy of dimerization of acetic acid at room temperature has been determined with a method based exclusively on infrared spectroscopy, thus ending the controversy on the ability of the technique to produce high-quality data for thermodynamics.
