SOLEIL synchrotron and the ASTEP primary school initiative

In conjunction with the Essonne Sciences network, SOLEIL synchrotron is continuing its involvement with educational institutions by lending its support to the ASTEP initiative (Accompagnement en Science et Technologie à l’Ecole Primaire – Science and Technology Support for Primary Schools).

This operation, which will continue throughout the 2010-11 school year, began last 17 November in Avrainville, with a teaching workshop entitled “Conducting a project with a scientist”, organized by the Sciences unit of the Essonne School Inspectorate. The operation is available in a choice of three different modules: “Light and shadow” in partnership with SOLEIL and the Sciences-ACO association; “The world of the living” with the Ecole de l’ADN, the INRA, the OPIE, the Bel Air teaching farm, the CNRS and the Orsay Science Faculty; and “Mathematical games” with the Playmaths association. These scientific organizations will provide support for the 50 participating teachers in their projects with students.
