Warning: this event will be held in French, except for the 5pm timeslot which will be in English. Registration link below.

Since 2018, UNESCO has declared that May 16 is the International Day of Light. For the fifth edition of this Day, SOLEIL opens its doors for an afternoon of visits and discoveries, Saturday, May 13th, from 2:30PM to 8PM

Attention, the visit of the synchrotron building is prohibited for people with electronic equipment that have an impact on their health (pacemaker, insulin pump, neurostimulator for epileptic seizures, etc.), due to the presence of powerful magnets. Note that cochlear implants are authorized, even if the magnetic fields can cause crackling sounds without consequence. The floor of the accelerator tunnels is covered with grids, so it is strongly advised not to wear shoes with heels that could get stuck in them!

Program :

  • Fun activities around light and matter
  • Tour of the SOLEIL Synchrotron including an exceptional access to the tunnels to visit the particle accelerators

The visit lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with a departure every 30 minutes. Please note: the visit is forbidden to children under 10 years old. All children under 16 years old will have to be accompanied by an adult. The number of places per time slot is limited to 10 people.

The visit will be held in French only except for the visit at 5pm which will be in English. So, if you are a non-French speaker, please book here.
