The delegates of ESUO (European Synchrotron and Free Electron Laser User Organisation) met on August 29 and 30, 2022 for their 18th General Assembly, which took place this year at SOLEIL, gathering 32 participants onsite and 15 online.
News from the different centers, access modes for users across Europe, collaborations, new projects, openness and interoperability of data ... all these topics were presented and discussed by representatives from 31 European states and associated countries.
The synchrotron and free-electron laser facilities are formidable research tools, true gateways to knowledge, solutions to current challenges, peaceful cooperation and global integration. To support this belief, ESUO invited Professor Serhii Nedilko, from Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv, Ukraine (see photograph below), to encourage the Ukrainian scientific community to make use of these facilities, and to assure them of its support in this endeavor.
SOLEIL took care of the logistics of his trip, and he was able to present the needs of the Ukrainian community of users to the assembly.
