SUM2026

January 14th - 16th, 2026 Synchrotron SOLEIL

The 20th SOLEIL Users’ Meeting will take place from Thursday January 15th to Friday 16th, 2026 at SOLEIL.

This invaluable forum for the synchrotron radiation users’ community will provide the opportunity to exchange and learn about the evolution of the machine and the beamlines.

It will be also the occasion to share scientific, technical and practical issues about the synchrotron radiation use.

The plenary talks will cover recent research highlights of SOLEIL in the following areas:

  • Soft Matter
  • Geoscience

Scientific communications will be presented during three parallel sessions, selected from the submitted abstracts.

In the afternoon of January, 15th and 16th, a social time will be held at SOLEIL with stands from commercial exhibitors and the dinner buffet.

The novelty of this SUM2026 is the discussion times with two posters sessions: one dedicated to the synchrotron community (beamlines, scientific associations, …) and one dedicated to science.

A multidisciplinary satellite workshop « Radiation Damage » will be held on Wednesday 14th of January, 2026 at SOLEIL.

A satellite meeting is organized for the French community of X-ray absorption spectroscopists at SOLEIL on Friday afternoon the 16th of January, 2026.

Radiation damage satellite workshop

The "Radiation Damage" thematic workshop is proposed in response to an issue raised by SOLEIL’s users in the framework of an S2UO survey. This workshop aims to train, inform, and initiate discussion among SOLEIL users. The program of the workshop is thought to be multidisciplinary, with general presentations and examples from several communities.

The roundtable has been designed to be as interactive and constructive as possible for all communities affected by radiation damage.

A tutorial on the RADDOSE-3D software, dedicated to predicting radiation damage, will conclude the day. Information about the software is available here: https://www.bioch.ox.ac.uk/garmangroup#tab-792756

To follow the tutorial, you must have previously installed the software on your personal computer. The software cannot be installed on an Apple computer.

The program is available below.

Tea-XAS Meeting

The TEA-XAS is a meeting dedicated to all SOLEIL users who use X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The objective of the TEA-XAS is twofold:

  • To give information about the status of the XAS beamlines (SOLEIL, French CRG beamlines of the ESRF) as well as their projects.
  • To provide space to the community for a discussion on your needs, expectations, questions, ideas, …

A project to unite the community of X-ray absorption spectroscopists is also under consideration, and this meeting of the French community will provide an opportunity to take stock on the project and discuss it together.

The afternoon will be divided into two parts: presentations of the beamlines by the XAS group leaders (SOLEIL, French CRG, ESRF), and an interactive roundtable discussion.

The programme is available below.

Please note that all the discussions will be held in French.
