Visits: instruction manual

Update : 21st September 2021

Visits are finally resuming! However, our conditions are particularly restrictive because of the pandemic.

We advise you to read this page carefully before booking a slot. Please note that no visit will be taken by email or phone.

Visits during the Covid-19 pandemic

Since June 2021, SOLEIL reopened its doors to visitors.

However, given the sanitary conditions, the visits last 1h30 instead of 2h30 (as the conference room in forbidden access) and the groups are smaller than usual.

Due to a floating number of guides, we are only able to offer groups of 30 on certain Tuesday mornings and Thursday mornings. Please respect the size of your reservation, including your companions, because any excess person on the day of the visit will be refused entry to the site.

We are aware of the difficulty this represents, in particular for high school teachers who have larger classes, and hope that the health situation will soon allow us to welcome your classes.

We do not yet know when we will be able to return to our usual conditions, but any changes to the visit conditions will be indicated here.

Thank you for your understanding.

Visits for individuals or groups of less than 7 people

SOLEIL mainly welcomes middle and high school classes or promotions from university or engineering schools, as well as other groups when they are substantial. However, we also open our doors to individuals as well as small groups. For these people, it is also necessary to register via the online form, one Wednesday afternoon per month, in FRENCH only.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to organize visits in English for individuals.

Entry conditions and booking

VISITS OF THE SOLEIL SYNCHROTRON ARE
  • free
  • authorised for ages 12 and over
  • from Tuesday to Thursday, depending on available time slots
  • reserved for groups (between 8 and 30 people): reservation is mandatory. If you are less than 8, reservation is required on the form, on the dates indicated here
  • Visits are prohibited for people with electronic equipment that have an impact on their health (pacemaker, insulin pump, neurostimulator for epileptic seizures, etc.), due to the presence of live magnets.
