Online and reproducible data processing

The Extensible Workflow System (EWOKS), developed at the ESRF, describes scientific data processing as workflows that are independent of the workflow engines and interfaces used to run them. The same workflow can run interactively on a desktop, automatically during an experiment, on a compute cluster, or from the data portal. Each result can be stored with a complete record of how it was produced, so the processing can be rerun, reproduced by others and reused at other beamlines.

EWOKS is used at 38 ESRF beamlines, and DESY, ALBA and Helmholtz are starting to use it. This talk presents examples from diffraction, reflectivity, spectroscopy, tomography and crystallography.
