Synchrotrons for the Global South : The Greater Caribbean project

Despite the importance of their applications, many of which are crucial for social and economic development, significant inequalities persist between advanced and developing countries regarding their distribution. In the Greater Caribbean, a regional proposal is gaining momentum. This initiative has integrated previous national proposals and is part of an interregional project selected by UNESCO as one of the “Projects of Science for the Decade of Sustainable Development.” The current status and future perspectives of this movement, as well as possible forms of cooperation with existing synchrotrons, will be presented.
