(Ligne SEXTANTS, Synchrotron SOLEIL, Gif sur Yvette, France)
The first part of this manuscript presents an introduction to magnetic resonant scattering of X- rays with a focus on soft X-rays and the instrumental/analytical developments made in recent years. Chapter 2 will illustrate my/our contributions in the years 2000-2010. Chapter 3 will be an opening on the recent work that has shown that resonant X-ray scattering is one of the techniques to address modern spintronics issues (such as chirality of magnetic textures), at spatial scales of the ten nanometers) and at temporal scales (from femtosecond to nanosecond) relevant for spintronics. Finally, I will present the perspectives of this work and in particular the developments undertaken on the SEXTANTS line in order to exploit the possibilities offered by the new sources (synchrotrons and XFEL) for 3D magnetic imaging with a resolution of a few nanometres (time resolved).
