SUM 2020 "SOLEIL Users'Meeting"

Share
January 16 to 17, 2020 Synchrotron SOLEIL

The 15th SOLEIL Users’ Meeting will take place on January 16th and 17th, 2020 at SOLEIL.

This invaluable forum for the synchrotron radiation users’ community will provide the opportunity to exchange and learn about the evolution of the machine and the beamlines. It will be also the occasion to share scientific, technical and practical issues about the synchrotron radiation use.

The 2 plenary lectures will deal with the following themes related to recent and future synchrotron sources use:

  • Condensed matter
  • Chemistry / Reactivity

Scientific communications will be presented during parallel sessions, selected from submitted abstracts (deadline for submission: November 22nd, 2019).

A social programme will be held at SOLEIL on the afternoon of January 16th, in conjunction with the posters session and commercial exhibitions. Then, a visit of beamlines, as well as 2 round table discussions and the buffet will take place at SOLEIL.
The Roger Fourme prize award (student poster best prize) will be held before the buffet.

Two tutoriols will be organized at SOLEIL on Friday January 17th, 2020:

  • CHEMOMETRY IN QUICK XAS
The number of participants is limited to the first 15 registered participants
  • SOFTWARE TRAINING CRYSPY
The number of participants is limited to the first 20 registered participants

We invite you to save the date !

Welcome

thematic workshop will be held on Wednesday 15th of January, 2020 at SOLEIL:
‘Techniques for integrated biology at Synchrotron SOLEIL and its upgrade’

Motivated by the need to support rapid changes in innovative science as closely as possible, the Synchrotron SOLEIL is planning to enter a phase for a machine upgrade, which should improve the quality of the synchrotron beam, and hence should open a window for new technological and methodological developments using the advantages brought by these new radiation sources.

The timing appears then suitable to boost the beamline instrumentation and their associated facilities, laboratories, and infrastructure.

With the recent explosion of interest in cryo-electron microscopy and integrated methods, the contribution from synchrotron facilities to the biological community needs to be adapted to a quickly evolving field.

The biology and health scientific section, also known as « HelioBio », at Synchrotron SOLEIL regroups a large set of instruments with specific equipment dedicated to biological applications. To illustrate the foreseen novelties in synchrotron access modes proposed by the « HelioBio » community, one day workshop will be organised to present the prevalent technologies favored by the Synchrotron SOLEIL biology users, complemented by the state-of-the-art methodologies envisioned by the expert communities.
