With the 3rd-generation SOLEIL synchrotron, Ile-de-France gains access to an exceptional instrument for the exploration of matter, the performance of which places it among the best on the planet. Though small and medium-sized businesses in the region have not participated largely in its realization up to this point, they can now have the opportunity to participate in subcontracting and supplies markets for part of the equipment still to be installed.
SOLEIL is also placing very high-level capabilities stemming from the operation of the synchrotron beam and the knowledge acquired during the construction of the site at the disposal of small and medium-sized businesses.
Different types of cooperation may be envisioned between the SOLEIL synchrotron and small and medium-sized businesses, whether involving transfers between groups, subcontracting via a project manager, or exchanges of expertise and technology.
It is in this context that the Ile-de-France Mechanics Committee and CRITTMECA are joining with the SOLEIL synchrotron directors to invite heads of French mechanics companies to meet the synchrotron’s teams and visit the site, and to analyze the types of provision associated with beamlines.
