Bursaries:
The eligibility and reporting requirements are:
> European Crystallography Association ‘ECA’:
- The ECA funds will be used to support young scientists (under 35) from the ECA "region" (ie Europe and Africa), with priority to less developed countries.
- There should be a reasonable geographical distribution of the fellowships. In particular, the organising country should not dominate the list of awards. The gender balance should also be taken into consideration.
- An applicant should be presenting author of an accepted abstract.
- A report (min. 250 words, max. 500 words) is required after the Conference from an ECA Bursary Award holder and which will be published on the ECA web site.
> International Union of Crystallography ‘IUCr’:
Funds are available for young scientists to attend ISDSB2010 and which should be used solely for travel and subsistence and not as a waiver for the registration fee. This is within IUCr’s Category 4 of support which is for meetings or workshops in well developed countries with strong support from the IUCr Commission on Biological Macromolecules where young scientists will be supported from abroad.
Please note:- IUCr Scientific Freedom Policy Statement. The Organizing Committee of ISDSB2010 shall observe the basic policy of non-discrimination and affirms the right and freedom of scientists to associate in international scientific activity without regard to such factors as ethnic origin, religion, citizenship, language, political stance, gender, sex or age, in accordance with the Statutes of the International Council for Science. At this meeting (or symposium etc) no barriers will exist which would prevent the participation of bona fide scientists.
Application for bursary should be sent together with CV and abstract to Conf-ISDBS2010@synchrotron-soleil.fr.
