Dr Raymond SPARROW (CSIR, National Laser Centre, Pretoria, Afrique du Sud) invité par Mathieu Réfrégiers
Lundi 9 janvier à 11h - Salle du RdC du Pavillon d'Accueil
This is an introduction to the Biophotonics group at the NLC and presents a review of the main current and planned research areas. This includes light propagation through biological tissues, identifying biochemical and biophysical mechanisms of wound healing and photodynamic therapy. The talk then focuses on a new thematic research project, the development of controllable light-activated Bio-nanodevices. This gives an overview of the main components of the device along with the Biological principles of photosynthesis, in-situ ATPsynthase production and motile protein mechanical movement on which the device is based. Finally the architecture and functional concepts of the device with some potential applications are described.
