- Applyingfor access in two steps:
- While completing the SUN set the main proposer has to declare if he/she intends touse the Surfaces lab.
If the project is accepted, the main proposer must get intouch with the laboratory manager. - Then 1 month beforethe arrival and no later, he/she confirms the access request,on-line on SUN Set ("Experiment Management" section, "Support laboratory Access" function) and details the needs:
- scientific instrumentations among available ones,
- scientific equipment among available ones,
- chemicals and materials you are intending to use,
- chemicals and gases that will be delivered to prepare samples,
- activities you are planning to carry out in the laboratory,
- request for technical support,
- …
- Secured access with badge
- From Monday to Friday during opening hours from 8:30 to 17:30, by appointment with the manager.
Also outside this schedule by appointment.

Safety requirements
|
- All the chemicals and materials necessary for samples preparation have to be declared on-line (cf. "samples and substances declaration" section)
- Only gases and chemicals approved by the safety group of SOLEIL synchrotron can be used.
- Basic security instructions of the laboratory (electricity, constraints, experiments) will be described in a safety document to read and to approve before using the surfaces lab.
- Working alone in the laboratory is forbidden.
- An individual protection must be used (lab-coat, gloves,glasses, closed shoes and working under fume hood if necessary) for any handling which requires it (liquid gas handling, cutting ofsample, etc).
- It is forbidden to modify or intervene on laboratory installations and instruments without prior and formal authorization by the manager of the laboratory.
More information will be made available later. The main proposer has to get in touch with the laboratory manager as soon as possible and at the latest 1 month before the experiment.
