Computer-Aided Maintenance Management System

SOLEIL uses TRIBOFILM’s MAINTIMEDIA CMMS. Its main purpose is to provide an inventory of equipment and track preventive and corrective maintenance operations. Deployment is handled by an inter-divisional task force responsible for defining the topology of SOLEIL equipment and for establishing a working methodology. Product administrators and certain users have been trained in the use of the system.

The CMMS database currently refers to over 60,000 topologies, including almost 40,000 items of equipment, including data-processing or electronic equipment, synchrotron parts, vacuum equipment, radiofrequency equipment, power supplies, etc. Beamline equipment is currently being listed.
Since 2006, all work requests for support groups are made via a dedicated CMMS interface.

The CMMS now interfaces with the AGRESSO application to initiate purchase requisitions. This means that requisitions are processed within a single system and items handled in the CMMS stock control system can be re-ordered automatically. The CMMS also interfaces with Business Objects to enable job request statistical data to be used easily.

SOLEIL places great importance on the CMMS and for this reason a multi-disciplinary work group regularly meets to make decisions on use of the system and the ways in which it can be standardized and developed.

Wiring database

A wiring database has been created at the same time for personnel responsible for particular items of equipment to enter details of the wiring they use such as start and end points, characteristics and routing. Once the data has been entered, the database is used to assist in call for tender for the supply of process wiring.

The database was originally set up for accelerators wiring, but has now been re-worked to include BeamLines wiring as well. It contains descriptions of over 10,000 Machine cables which have been pulled by a contractor under the supervision of the Technical Services Division. Details of more than 7,000 BeamLines cables have been entered: some of these have been installed and others remain to be pulled, depending on progress on installing lines.

Other technical management software

Other software applications have also been developed to track equipment testing and commissioning. These are updated occasionally in response to requests and deal with areas such as management of machine magnet magnetic measurement, insertion measurement management and equipment test data management.

ELOG logbooks have been established for the Machine and for Lines and laboratories. This software has been developed by PSI and is much appreciated by users.

Chemical products
An application has been developed for the safety department using data from the CMMS. It provides information on stocks of chemicals and their location.
