EUROPEAN WORKSHOP ON X-RAY ABSORPTION FOR BIOLOGY
ORSAY JULY 3 - 4 2000
OBJECTIVES
BioXAS 2000 follows the BioXAS workshop, organised in
February 1999 by ESRF. BioXAS 2000 concerns not only scientists with experience
in the field, but also all those who have projects where XAS might be useful, or
who are simply interested to know more about current developments. X-ray
absorption has specific capabilities, which make it an important tool among
available physical methods for structural biology. Due to progress in
experimental, theoretical and computational methods, X-ray absorption can now be
considered as a reliable technique. The development of third generation
synchrotron radiation sources in Europe and new challenges such as structural
genomics create opportunities for the expansion of the field.
This workshop will hopefully strengthen European collaboration in
biological XAS, including the implementation of a network.
