> The goal of the workshop is to disseminate information about scientific opportunities in X-ray coherent diffraction and ultrafast X-ray science, performed either on 3rd generation X-ray sources, or on the new FEL facilities such as the XFEL at Hamburg, the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) at SLAC or the SPring8 Compact SASE source in Japan. Moreover, the workshop is intended to inform French researchers who are interested in joining these exciting new fields.

The workshop will be organized only around invited and focused talks. In order to get an introduction to the field, the contribution will focus on basics and pedagogy, but visionary research will be discussed as well. The objective is to provide sufficient material to stimulate exchanges. A poster session coupled to a buffet will be organized on monday 14 evening.

In addition, we will organize during the last day (Wed. 16) two sessions dedicated to X-ray Free Electron experimental proposals. French users will be encouraged to present their foreseen research at the Hamburg XFEL or at LCLS.
