The "Laboratories for Excellence" (or Labex) call for funding aims at providing significant funding to internationally recognized laboratories in order to be at the highest international level, attract world known researchers and lecturers and to construct an overall policy for high level research, training and valorization.
The ancient materials platform IPANEMA (archaeology, conservation sciences, paleontology and paleoenvironments) at SOLEIL is one of the scientific partners of the Heritage Labex project (PATRIMA), coordinated by the Cergy-Pontoise University (see all forty partners involved).
The aim of PATRIMA is to create an interdisciplinary research and training center on an international scale in Ile-de-France, in order to be able to share human resources, equipment and know-how between research groups with an interest in heritage sciences: knowledge, conservation and heritage restoration work. This includes closely linked fundamental research, teaching and training (Masters and PhD), both in basic and social sciences, the high involvement of the latter being a key factor of the project.
The funding allocated and provided for 10 years to the winners will be announced in the following weeks.
The partners of the IPANEMA platform at SOLEIL are the CNRS, the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the MNHN and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). The construction of IPANEMA is financed equally by the French State and the Île-de-France Region as part of a CPER contract.
