In conjunction with the Essonne Sciences network, SOLEIL synchrotron is continuing its involvement with educational institutions by lending its support to the ASTEP initiative (Accompagnement en Science et Technologie à l’Ecole Primaire – Science and Technology Support for Primary Schools). This operation, which will continue throughout the 2010-11 school year, began last 17 November in Avrainville, with a teaching workshop entitled “Conducting a project with a scientist”, organized by the Sciences unit of the Essonne School Inspectorate. The operation is available in a choice of three different modules: “Light and shadow” in partnership with SOLEIL and the Sciences-ACO association; “The world of the living” with the Ecole de l’ADN, the INRA, the OPIE, the Bel Air teaching farm, the CNRS and the Orsay Science Faculty; and “Mathematical games” with the Playmaths association. These scientific organizations will provide support for the 50 participating teachers in their projects with students.
